I had seen this done with a Nano QX board before and was curious to see if I could accomplish this with an SLT. First I tried rigging 8mm motors to is and failed, I would get maybe an inch off the ground before the FETs would give up. So I started looking around for good 6mm motors, they can be pretty hard to find. Really the only ones I can find where the 6x12mm that are used on a bunch of toy quads but these didn’t have enough lift, I had tested with the stock motors first.
On MMW there are lots of micro motor options. Having seen the 6x15mm motor upgrades to the Nano QX got me thinking if its good enough for that its good enough for me right?
This was the first build, the spark that started the fire. This build is using a Proto-X SLT with 6x15mm motors from MMW set to fast. I attempted using the 6x15mm at medium but it didn’t pack enough punch to really make it enjoyable, even as it is there is barely enough lift to make it really flyable.
I originally did this build for the community at micro motor warehouse, if you haven’t already been there its a must for all things micro. Here’s a link to the original contest.
Anyway this was super fun and was the inspiration to it all, and at only 15grams on the scale its a lightweight as can be.
